Fee = $5.00 plus cost of book.

Classes held Saturday mornings from 9AM to 1PM.

 

Murchison is located west off Mopac on to Far West,

left on Hart lane, right at North Hills, use the South entrance.

This schedule shows topics to be covered in each class session.  It also provides reading for "homework" which should be done before each session (please pre-read the intro).  The book for this course is ARRL’s “Extra Class” book, available at Austin Amateur Radio Supply.  Other books, such as Gordon West’s, older ARRL or Radio Shack publications are welcome, but class references will be from ARRL’s book.  Best results can be obtained by spending at least 30-60 minutes per day in relaxed study.  5wpm Morse code instruction will be self-paced.

Subjects:  Introduction to the Amateur Extra license and privileges, how best to use the book, E1- Commission’s (FCC) Rules, E2- Operating Practices, Morse Code.

 

Class Session 2 Jan 26

Further discussion of E1 and E2, E5- Electrical Principles, E6- Circuit Components

 

Class Session 3 Feb 2

Subjects: E5- Electrical Principles, E6- Circuit Components, E7- Practical Circuits

 

Class Session 4 Feb 9

Subjects: E3- Radio Wave Propagation, E9 Antennas and Feedlines

 

Class Field Trip! Feb 16- Smithville Hamfest (no class at Murchison)
