Austin Amateur Repeater Club
The Austin Amateur Radio Club is one of the two largest
amateur
radio clubs in Austin, TX. AARC meetings
are held in the back room of the
Sirloin Stockade at 5607 N Lamar Blvd.
at 7:00PM on the second Tuesday
of every month. Since the club is extremely active
and the meetings are a social event as much as a
business meeting, the room usually fills up early
with people socializing over dinner. The business
meeting usually takes about a half an hour which
leaves planty of time for the presentation. The
topics range from emergency communications and
how to prepare for disaster to the design of
antennas and other station accessories.
Usually there is a "meeting after the
meeting" and people go out to a local
establishment for a yogurt cone and even more
social activities. There is no getting around it
Austin is a friendly town that likes to make
people feel at home.
